For those in the workers’ compensation industry, the US Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee’s findings that employer, Amazon, has substantially higher injury rates among its employees than the working warehouse average is no surprise.
Led by Sen. Bernie Sanders, the one-and-one-half-year-long investigation showed that Amazon warehouse employee injury rate is approximately double the 2023 industry average.
While Amazon rejected HELP Committee findings, it is clear to those striving to aid injured workers that claims of the company putting worker speed over safety – so-called “rates” – are valid. We have seen the effects of Amazon’s policies on injured workers in our clients alone.
